Kevin Spooner (he/him)
Warner Pacific University in the Center for Teaching and Learning
MFS Board Chair
Kevin joined the MFS Board of Directors in 2019. With a passion for teaching and learning, Kevin has served as a learning specialist, classroom teacher and administrator in PreK-K12 schools for over thirty years. Currently he is serving as the Interim Associate Dean of Education at Warner Pacific University in addition to his role as Assistant Professor in Warner Pacific's teacher preparation program. Preparing new teachers with diverse backgrounds to pursue future careers in education brings him much joy.
Kevin believes that schools are learning communities where we all learn together- teachers, students, parents and community members who are striving to help each other reach their fullest human potential and create a better world for us all. Kevin seeks to participate in efforts to break down barriers to equity and social justice including racism, white privilege and poverty.
Kevin is a native Oregonian, who received his undergraduate degree at Western Oregon State College, and his Master's and Doctoral Degrees at Portland State University. Kevin participates in several professional organizations including the Oregon Association for Independent Colleges and Universities (OAIC) as well as the Oregon Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (OACTE).
With over 30 joy-filled years of marriage, Kevin and Maggie Spooner are proud parents and grandparents to Jon, Rachel, Krystal (Daughter-in Law) and grandson Lachlan. Whenever he can find the time, Kevin can be found running, reading and enjoying music.
Deanna D’Souza (she/her)

Deanna is honored to support MFS by serving on the board and helping to advance high impact programs focused on improving outcomes for children, families, and older adults. Deanna serves as the Community Programs Manager at Worksystems, leading a team of Senior Project Managers in connecting federal, state and local support with a robust network of community-based employment service providers. She has 15+ years of program development, project management, and organizational development experience in the private, public and nonprofit sectors. She’s passionate about community engagement and advancing equity, diversity and inclusion. Deanna is originally from New York and lives in NE Portland with her husband and cats. She spends her free time reading, cooking, hiking or working on home improvement projects.
Trenton Blair (he/him)

Trenton Blair joined the board for MFS in 2021 and currently Chairs the Finance and Investment committees as well as sitting on the Executive Board. Trenton is a CPA licensed in Oregon and is currently the VP, Chief Accounting Officer at Columbia Sportswear. He previously worked in public accounting at Moss Adams and Deloitte in their Portland offices. Trenton grew up in Portland and attended Oregon State University, where he majored in Business. In his spare time he enjoys traveling and drinking wine with his wife, Karra as well as spending time with his two teenage daughters, Lilly and Violet.
Shea Flaherty Betin (he/him)

As Prosper Portland’s Economic Development Director, Shea has played a critical leadership role in the city’s response to the economic impact of the pandemic, in continuing efforts around inclusive business technical assistance, traded-sector business development, workforce development programs, as well as in launching new efforts like the Office of Events and Film.
Shea is a cross-cultural communicator, having been deeply influenced in his vocation by his immigrant Colombian upbringing, his work with the local Latiné community (including previous service as the Director of Hacienda CDC’s Portland Mercado, where he led a community incubator of 20+ Latiné entrepreneurs and adjacent small business services), and his experience as a National Association For Latino Community Asset Builders Pete Garcia Community Economic Development Fellow.
Prashanth Arulsakaran (he/him)
Trailhead Credit Union
Currently serving as the CFO of Trailhead, a small CDFI credit union. Previously a small business owner of a Tax/Small Business Consulting firm and owner/operator of indirect T-Mobile stores. Have been helping small non-profits and NGOs in the US, India and Sri Lanka for over 15 years to start and expand operations.
Joe Entler (he/him)
Amazon (AWS)
Joe joined the MFS Board in April of 2023. Joe has served on the board of several not for profits. Most recently at Places for People in St Louis MO. There he chaired several committees (Total Quality Improvement and Development), he also served as VP and President. As President he oversaw a major capital campaign that allowed PfP to move into a new building and double the number of clients they could serve.
Throughout his career, Joe has focused on leading transformational change at large, Global enterprises. He has a long track record of finding areas for improvement and then delivering on those improvements. Currently, Joe is employed at Amazon Web Services and leads one of their Global Training Programs.
Joe grew up in the Bay Area of California, and graduated from Sonoma State and earned his MBA from Maryville U in St Louis. Both of Joe's kids live in the Dallas TX area but love visiting here in the PNW.
In his spare time, Joe likes to spend weekends in Manzanita, or playing golf, tennis and pickleball when he and his partner are not traveling, diving and hiking all around the world.
Sarah Fergason (she/her)
Point West Credit Union
Sarah has worked in the credit union industry for over 25 years at credit unions in both Washington and Oregon. Sarah joined Point West Credit, a low income designated, CDFI certified credit union, in 2017 as the Chief Financial Officer where she oversees the credit union’s finance, accounting, human resources, and member solutions efforts.
Sarah joined the Board of Directors at MFS in 2022 where she also serves on the Finance and Investment Committees.
Sarah received her BS in Finance from Washington State University. Sarah and her husband live in Vancouver, Washington with their three children. Most of Sarah’s free time is spent watching her kids in various sports. She also enjoys rooting for the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners.
Amanda Garcia-Snell (she/her) Washington County
Amanda Garcia-Snell believes that all people, especially those who are underserved, should have the ability to thrive in their communities. She has worked for Washington County pursuing equity and inclusion for the past 15 years, most recently as the Community Engagement Manager in the County Administrative Office. She brings a passion for relationship building and collaboration to her professional and volunteer work and has been dedicated to serving community in a variety of ways since she was a child growing up in northern Arizona.
Prior to joining Washington County, Amanda held professional positions in local and state government and higher education, teaching in the Chicano Latino Studies department as adjunct faculty at Portland State University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology, a Masters of Public Health degree and a certificate in Chicano Latino Studies from Portland State University. Amanda began volunteering for non-profits as a child, wrapping presents for children in need and has held a variety of roles, with many different organizations, over the course of her life. One of her most memorable volunteer experiences was with the NAMES project in 1996 at the last showing of the AIDS quilt (in its entirety) on the National Mall in Washington DC.
Although she grew up in northern Arizona, Amanda has lived in the Pacific Northwest for nearly 30 years and still loves the rain. When not working she enjoys travelling, learning new things and having new experiences with her family. She is especially interested in history and loves any opportunity to see a good sunrise.
Karin Holsinger (she/her)
The Standard
Karin started at The Standard in 2010 as director of business finance in Retirement Plans before moving to Employee Benefits to lead the Business Finance and operations teams. In 2019, Karin moved to Corporate Finance and Accounting where she supported change management for an ERP implementation. In 2020, Karin transitioned into a senior director role where she was responsible for overseeing the Finance Transformation and operations teams, including Financial Systems and Innovations, Payroll and Quality Assurance functions.
In Karin’s most recent role as second vice president, chief of staff in Corporate Finance and Accounting, she has taken on additional responsibilities related to the facilitation and development of the division strategy. She is responsible for leading division improvement goals, overseeing and managing key sourcing vendors, and serving as a consultant and advisor to the Corporate Finance and Accounting executive team.
Prior to joining The Standard, Karin worked nearly 20 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Cambia Health Solutions, where she held various finance and accounting leadership roles. She graduated from Linfield University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. For more than 20 years, Karin has volunteered with SMART, or Start Making a Reader Today, served on the SMART board for eight years and is currently on the advisory board for Avenue Agency.
Anne Marie Johnson (she/her)
Community Volunteer
Anne Marie’s career in nonprofit fundraising and communications has included work in youth services, the arts and culture sector, and social services. She serves as the Executive Director of The Johnson Family Foundation, and she is passionate about the intersection of philanthropy and community-based initiatives. Although she was born in California, Anne Marie moved to Portland as a child and considers herself an Oregonian! She attended Kenyon College where she received a degree in English Literature and went on to earn her Masters in Cultural Policy and Arts Administration from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Anne Marie is the mother of a dynamic 5 year-old who consistently asks her questions for which she strives to identify answers. She enjoys the PNW outdoors, travel, spending time with friends and family, reading and writing in her spare time.
Caron Kushner (she/her)
Student & Community Leader
Caron has served on the Board and Program Committee of MFS for nearly six years. Caron met Judy Strand when she was transitioning from corporate life into the non-profit world. She was immediately drawn to MFS and wanted to learn more about the programs and their impact on the community. Caron observed Ready, Set Go! Preschool at Earl Boyles Elementary and was so impressed with the program that she immediately decided to lend her support to MFS as a Board member.
Caron is originally from London, England, and received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley. She has worked in marketing and philanthropy for Nike, Intel and Hewlett-Packard. Most recently Caron worked for Serendipity Center, Special Education School. Caron has served on the Board of Our House and on various committees for United Way, Friendly House, St. Clare Parish School, Portland Public Schools and Portland Jewish Academy.
Caron fell in love with Horticultural Therapy while working at Serendipity Center and returned to school to study Horticulture Therapy. Currently Caron shares her passion and Horticulture Therapy expertise with the children in the Ready, Set, Go! Preschool Program each month and loves every minute.
Caron is a Master Gardener and spends every free moment in her garden growing tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, sunflowers and wildflowers. When she is not gardening she is consuming coffee and reading in one of her favorite coffee shops.
Leslie Lambert (she/her)
ICF – Reston VA
Leslie joined the MFS Board in 2023. Her professional background is in strategic communications and customer insights. As a senior manager within ICF’s energy consulting group, Leslie oversees initiatives that provide people and small businesses with information on energy efficiency, decarbonization, and available funding to help advance the net-zero transition.
Leslie uses a people-centric approach to her communications strategies on behalf of utilities, city and state governments, and other organizations by mining demographic and other data. Prior to joining ICF, she spoke directly with community members across Texas, her home state, in English and Spanish to understand their food needs.
Leslie received her undergraduate degrees in Economics and Political Science from Yale College and her MBA from the Yale School of Management. She lives in Portland with her husband and is an avid reader and hiker.
Todd Lindamood (he/him)
Kaiser Permanente
Todd Lindamood rejoined the board of directors for MFS in 2024 after serving previously in 2014-2015. Todd recently moved back to Portland and currently serves as the Vice President, Human Resources & Labor Relations for Kaiser Permanente. In this role, he leads all human resource functions for the Northwest region, which currently has over 11,600 employees, 636,000 medical members, 287,000 dental members, and an operational footprint that includes 2 hospitals, 52 medical office buildings, and 21 dental offices.
Todd leads important HR priorities including talent acquisition, organizational effectiveness, labor relations, Equity, Inclusion, & Diversity (EID).
Todd has more than 20 years of human resources and labor relations leadership experience with the last 12 of those years serving as an executive in leading organizations such as Swissport, Inc., Amazon, & Kroger/Fred Meyer. He has a proven track record of being a champion and catalyst for initiatives that accelerate EID commitments. Throughout his career, he has been a leader in change management for organizations and delivering results by cultivating strong relationships with his teams and business partners.
Todd is passionate about serving others and supporting initiatives to bring change for marginalized communities. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with concentrations in finance and marketing from Argosy University and a Master of Science in Human Resources Administration from Central Michigan University.
Shea Morrison (she/her)
Wells Fargo Bank
Shea joined the MFS Board in 2016 and has served as the past Chair of the Program and DEIJ committees. Her professional background is in adapting to changing priorities, deadlines and surroundings while meeting client’s needs. Shea executes on Influence Management and develops her team in risk management, operational controls, exceptional customer experience and related transactional tasks ad processes to ensure timely completion, quality and compliance in a retail banking environment. Shea has been with Wells Fargo Bank for over 20 years, managing employees across several states, teaching financial education to communities in Portland and surrounding areas and now is a District Branch Network Senior Manager for Polk, Marion, Yamhill and Clackamas county branches.
Sheema Shariat (she/her)
Blue Kangaroo Coffee Roasters
Sheema Shariat was born in Iran and raised in New Zealand. Reflecting her commitment to understanding and contributing to societal well-being she pursued a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Massey University.
Having served as a nonprofit program director in Portland, Sheema's dedication to community welfare was evident. However, embracing an entrepreneurial spirit, she transitioned to small business and now runs her own coffee shop and roaster in Sellwood, Portland.
Balancing professional endeavors with profound personal commitments, Sheema is a full-time mom to two children. Her multifaceted journey is a testament to resilience, education, and a deep-seated passion for both community impact and family life.
Maddie Stitzel (she/her)
Umpqua Bank
Maddie Joined the board of Metropolitan Family Services (MFS) in 2022 and brings a deep passion for economic vitality, addressing elderly isolation, and advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) initiatives—areas where MFS has demonstrated tremendous impact on her development as a community member. In her role as the Chair of Military Resources at Umpqua Bank and as a military spouse, Maddie brings a unique perspective to the board. Professionally, she serves as the Chief of Staff and Vice President of Strategy for Middle Market Banking at Umpqua Bank, leveraging her expertise in finance and strategic planning. A proud graduate of Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Maddie is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Finance at the same institution.
Judy Stand (she/her)
Metropolitan Family Service
Judy joined MFS in 2005 after a two decade career in community mental health, starting in direct clinical work that led to innovating new ways to reach and treat older adults with mental health needs. At MFS, Judy provided leadership for programs and overall operations as Chief Operating Officer until 2012, when she moved into the role of CEO.
Throughout her career, Judy has put her energy into efforts that improve and expand access and inclusivity in order to build a resilient and just community, which is core to the mission of MFS.
“I have heard people say that they had a chance to do something they never had imagined they could do because of MFS. It might be being able to read for the first time, getting their family’s first loan approval, or being able to get transportation needed in later years…it is an honor to be part of an organization that opens up access to pivotal resources for so many people in our community.”
Judy is originally from NJ, received her undergraduate degree from the College of Wooster, Ohio, and received her MSW at Portland State University. She serves on the All Hands Raised Partnership Council, Portland, Oregon; is Co-Chair for the Multnomah County Schools Uniting Neighborhoods Service System, and is an Oregon American Leadership Forum Senior Fellow.
Judy and Jack Strand own Strand Tea Company, and live in the foothills of Mt. Hood with their cats. Judy is an avid singer, and enjoys painting watercolors when time and space allow!
Devon Trux (she/her)
Brown & Brown Northwest
Devon Trux is Vice President, Community Affairs & Business Operations at Brown & Brown, a leading insurance brokerage firm delivering risk management solutions to individuals and businesses. Devon manages the company’s community engagement, internal and external communications and events, internal teammate engagement and overall operations out of the Portland, Oregon office. Her career path has wound in and out of the for- and non-profit worlds, with experience focused on communications, event/meeting management and program and people management.
Internally at Brown & Brown, Devon is a founding Communications Lead for the enterprise-wide women’s teammate resource group, The Power of She, a group that has grown to more than 500 members since it launched in mid-2022. Devon has also been a board member for Metropolitan Family Service since March 2022.
Devon has a degree in Communication from UC, Davis. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling with her family, rock climbing and curling up with a good book.
Paul Vindigni (he/him)
Software Solutions Unlimited, Inc.
Paul Vindigni has 35 years of experience serving in CFO, COO and CEO roles for organizations in various industries including semiconductor equipment manufacturing; secured transportation; music publishing and consumer goods products. Currently, Paul is the CEO of Software Solutions, Inc a technology based supply chain company headquartered in Tigard, Oregon. Paul often joins companies during times of transition with the intention of executing an equity and/or debt transaction to lead the way for an owner’s exit or to provide ongoing working capital for the business. As part of Paul’s role, he drives change management to effectively enhance the value of the company by driving efficiencies and operational excellence within all areas of the business.
Paul is also an adjunct instructor at Portland State University’s School of Business where he teaches International Financial Management and Geopolitical Risks and Impacts on Multinational Corporations.
Impressed by the breath of community services provided by Metropolitan Family Service and the commitment of the team, Paul joined as a board member in 2020 and now serves as the Chair of the Development Committee.
Paul holds an undergraduate Degree and an MBA in Financial Management from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY.
